sonic manager

i stumbled across this page and after reading i noticed this pissed off guy named ex sonic employee who made the comment get a real job. well i am a sonic manager and i am not as calm as andrew. so i say to ex sonic employee i make more money in 1 year than you make in 5 years. i love cashing my 6 thousand to 12 thousand dollar bonus checks a month depending on the season. and yes i am bragging because i deserve everything i have. i started out as a cooking making $4.25 an hour and worked my ass off to get where i am now. so you can keep you so called real job.

the accountant figures our profit % and then cuts my 20% bonus check
my profit ranges between 20,000 and 70,000 depending on the season you do the math at 20%. i dont blame you for being skeptical most people dont realize the amount of money a sonic manager can make if they run their store right that is.

Sonic rocks. I would like to see some friday night car shows at the sonic on Ellsworth and Guadalupe, in Mesa Az. Any one there?

General managers make good money, but not as good when looked at by how many a good one works. I know gms that make 70,000 and more, but they work alot. If they care about what they do, and what kind of difference they can make in someones life, it is all worth it. Jesus is the only way to God, and nothing else matters here. Sonic is cool, but eternity lasts longer than a bad slush, or a great #2.

Ok...do you really want to know what the best item at Sonic is to order?? Try their Sunshine Smoothie- IT IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!! ONly 2.77 for a large, and it is fantastic. It's a mixture of orange juice, strawberrries, bananas, and FAT FREE soft serve. I'm from Papillion NE, and the Sonic that I visit quite frequently knows me by my first name- and every so once in a while they'll make my smoothie on the house! (It pays to be a regular customer!)

On Thursday July 14,2005 I went to the Sonic's on Richland Ave. in Aiken, SC and ordered a med. sweet tea with extra ice and a reg. sized tater tot order. What used to be my all time favorite restaurant became my worse. After drinking all the tea I lifted the lid on the cup to eat the ice and found a spider frozen in the ice. It was right on the top with its legs sticking up. Oh how disgusting this was. I reported this matter to my local health dept. as well as to that store's managers. The head manager(BeBe) had the nerve to insult me by telling me the item was lime. The fruit. Please. I'm no dummy. If a mosquito is on a counter top dead, you know it is a mosquito. I tried to get assistance from various Sonic's workers. One store manager(Don)even told me he was the 1-800 number. The area manager(Kieth)was at the store when I called requesting the 1-800 number; called me after I called a Sonic's in Martinez, Georgia to get the number. He I must say was the most helpful. He did magnify the object stating "he thought it was a gnat"; but I still received nothing other than an offer for a free meal on them. Why would they offer me food when I'd had such a bad experience? I've had all kinds of food mishaps, but none quite like this. I haven't stepped foot close to another Soni's Drive In Restaurant since then and do not recommend anyone going there to eat. Because they said I had no real physical damage, they can't do anything. But, I say what about mental anguish?

So I was really craving chili cheese fries, and saw a place down the way about 9 or 10 miles. SO I was on the hunt when I realized SONIC has chili cheese fries. I read this while waiting for rush hour to end. About 6:45 I left, got to Sonic at 7:02 left at 7:04. Ordered Chili cheese tots, a jr.burger, and a reeses blast. the burger and tots were pipin' hot. and the blast was marvelous. I dropped my change but the carhop picked it up with a smile. I left a $1 tip. The sonic off of 620 and Anderson Mill in Austin, TX is the best place to be. Responsible workers, short wait, about 10 minutes if it's full, and good food. my sonic experiences have been for the most part good, I have had bad experiences with sonic, ex. food takes too long, but I have faith in them because compared to the other fast food places, sonic offers a huge variety of desserts, drinks, and meals at a fair price. they are a bit skimpy on the chili though.

I live up north,in Stockton, Calif.
FINALLY we have Sonics in nearby Merced, Modesto area and one in Tracy.

*I heard that one was being built near 99 heading towards Sactamento in the new Kohl Sopping center.

Suggestion:
*I would highly recommend that SONIC adds TWO (2 different locations), one more in the West Lane & March - this area alone is full of thousands of new homes being developed. This area growing very, very fast, driving to the only one Sonic's way out on 8 mile kills he idea for families to go enjoy a meal there.
You 'target' clientel is definitely HERE, and there is even a local economic incentive program known as the Enterprise Zone)offered by the city to businesses that basiclly pass the employyees slalaries.
I'm orinally from Texas an love to go and take my family for a treat at Sonics.

Thanks !
Dan....in nothern Hellifornia

tony r bledsoe

I have made several trips to the Sonic here is North Augusta, S.C., and have yet to get the junior banana split like the one shown on the television on the commercials.
The one I purchased today had hardly no ice cream and about a 1/2 tsp full of everything else, along with about 1/2 or less of a banana.
Being a regular Sonic customer, I am very disappointed with the results.
If you can't produce what you advertise, then don't advertise it.

I once worked at a Sonic in Sevierville Tn.
I was there for about three months and was witness to several unsavory practices.
When I first stated there the pilot light on the water heater..which was very old, kept going out and we cleaned up the kitchen area on more than one occasion with just COLD water.
Another time it was late and the grill had already been cleaned..and this guy pulls up and orders a hamburger. Well the assistant manager throws a frozen patty into the deep fryer and who knows how that burger tated...but the poor guy who ordered it.
And the bun machine was so gross that it would ruin your appetite if you saw the nasty insides of it.

There are good Sonics out there...but if management is incompetant..well...go figure..

bill

For all the people who ask where a sonic is near them. Go on the website and click store locator. Its not that difficult.

What makes me mad sonic has been advertising in Michigan for years, but theres none in the state. It's time to open some up.

Does a car hop get paid minimum wage or do they get paid more? Are you supposed to tip these folks?

What you guys may not know is that Sonic has the highest frequency of food tampering incidents than any other restaurant in history.

tj

you are so full of b.s.

Harmony

Ok... well, I just got back from sonic with the cheeseburger I've been craving all day, only to get halfway through and pull a pubic hair out of my mouth! I know.. "GROSS!!", right? Well I posted the whole story on -My3Cents.com, under Harmonious C.
This happened at the sonic drive through in LongBeach,MS.
I'm pregnant & I don't care how much this baby craves a fastfood! The only burgers I'll be eating from now on are the ones I cook!

OVERCHARGE RACKET! The Sonic store #3562 located at Buckner & Peavy in Dallas, TX overcharges for their drinks. The menu states an item such as a Fruit Smoothie and it lists the flavors as Tropical, Strawberry, Strawberry & Banana as the choices. The price is then listed as $2.99 for the large in any of those flavors. Now, when you get the ticket you will realize that you are being charged an extra $.35 cents for a "flavor charge". How can this be when the flavor was included in the posted price? They do it on every drink such as if you order a Shake they charge the 35 cent flavor charge for. They charged me 35 cents for a flavor charge on a simple diet Coke. This has been going on for about 2-3 years. There is no other Sonic that charges this charge and when you ask the employees they cannot logically explain why it's charged. It is not my regular Sonic stop but a couple of times a week I have to pass it coming back from the gym and have noticed the people milling around out there and it seems to be a poorer part of town. I believe this Sonic is assuming that due to it's location and it's clientele they will be able to take advantage of these folks and they won't be questioned but I'm here to question them. I called the complaint center but that has been an excercise in frustration to say the very least. I'm going to talk with some of my media friends and see if they are interested in looking into this "anomaly". Stay away from this Sonic if you can.

Lawrence Bernhard

Try to find the name and phone number of the area supervisor or the area director of sales and tell them about your problem of the charge flavor. They are the guys that can really make a change to that stores performance. If you can't get the info you need just reply back and I can try to get it for you. I run the Sonic #5391 in san antonio tx.

Linda

I am so very disappointed at the Greensboro Sonic on Summit Avenue. My friends and I went there after our college concert and it was almost 12:00 am if it wasn't already. However I had to use the restroom and I went to use it and the door was locked so I then went to the front door and there was a young lady outside w/ her boyfriend and I told her I needed to use the restroom and I needed to know if the door was locked from someone being in there or if I needed a key. The young lady returned to give me an answer like the door is locked and my manager is busy so we don't have time to go and let you in the bathroom. So I said ok. My friends were supposed to be ordering our food and when I returned to the car we still had not placed our orders. So at this point I had to really needed to use the restroom, I was hungry, and no one had asked us what we wanted. Finally, about five minutes later someone asked us what we wanted. While placing our orders it took 2 persons to get our orders, in the middle of us giving our order the voice on the loud speaker was different. And we could actually see the woman who finished taken our order doing gestures and making faces. However I food arrived and I was not pleased. I wanted a fruit punch w/o ice, the worker had ice in my drink, I never got sauce w/ my tenders, and my friend’s order didn’t wasn't complete. So we had to wait on the worker to go and get my drink w/o ice, my friend's tenders for her order, never received my sauce for my tenders. And then the young lady I spoke of earlier came out to our truck and brought out my drink and the tenders. I told her that I wanted a free French fry b/c of the wait. so she want in to get it and came back telling me something I guess her manager Bobby Smith was saying and she started cursing like we were friends and how she was getting ready to leave and was supposed to stay there until 3:00 am, but she had to use the restroom and she couldn't even use it. I never got any thing for free for my time and the fact that is was something wrong w/ their restroom. I am very upset w/ my service and I would really appreciate it if someone replies to this e-mail me about this matter.

michele

so let me tell you all a way to get better service..... Don't take ten minutes to order. If everyone takes ten minutes to order then the girls are busy taking orders. Those same girls are supposed to bring your food out. If you don't know what you want, don't press the button. We could be taking someone's food out and by the time you are done talking, their food is cold. Don't press the botton 10 times, everytime you need ranch. It saves alot of time if you ask for it when you place the order. Most smart girls will make sure it's in your bag if you ask for it, because we do not have time to visit you again. If everyone takes us 2 trips then it wastes time. I'm not saying that carhops don't make mistakes but customers make just as many. You have to realize your order can go through 6 people before it gets to you. First the customer (who doesn't even always know what they are ordering) then the switchboard, then the cook, then the bagger, then the person on drinks, then the carhop. The carhops did not make it this way. If it comes out wrong, it is most likely not your carhops fault. Now she should correct the problem right away, but just know it could of gotten messed up anywhere. There's no reason to be rude to her. Now about orders that are late. This is a big problem. I have been the only carhop in a FULL parking lot before. Management is pressured to keep their labor costs low, so all three of the sonics I have work for were under staffed for shifts. It's not your carhop's fault sonic won't spend the big bucks on more staff. Most of the time she is going as fast as her little feet will carry her. I'm sure this is not true for all sonics, but this has been my expierence. I'm sorry to all of you that have gotten stupid carhops who don't know how to do their job. I loved my job. I had regular customers who I just loved. They must of like me too, because they would always bring me things. I had a family of 5, who on sundays would order breakfast and bring me flowers! Another couple brought me a baby gift when i was pregnant. Also, I've had to deal with quite a bit of crummy things. I've seen a lot of penis, with men who get off on having it hanging out when you bring them your food. It's hard to ignore it, when you want to punch them. End of story... be understanding of your carhop.

Why is it Sonic advertise's in Michigan but yet there are no Sonic's there at all? I guess I won't worry about it because I live in Southern Ohio and theres one in Jackson. Best fast food place by far.

I gave the girl my check card thru the drive up window because there was no atm there to take my payment when she gave me what I purchased I asked for my card back she looked confused and turned around and then came back saying she didn't have it. I promptly replied she did and had not given it back to me the manager came out and looked me straight in the face and said we don't have it. With confusion on my face I exclaimed she had not handed it back to me she shut the drive up window and would not answer. Whatever happened to customer service? I had to sit and hold the drive up window up to get help and they wouldn't look ofr my card I finally got some action 20 min later when they said that I could come into the store and look, they kept telling me that I had the card I almost felt crazy, so knowing that I never received I still went to my car and looked through everything. The manager was terrible so they gave me number to another manager I told him I would go away if they gave me my card back, he ended up yelling at me and when I exclaimed that I felt that I was not the one to be yelled at that perhaps he should come and check his employees for the card he hung up on me. With desperation I called the Wichita Kansas Police Department to file a report. Suddenly my card appeared a young girl came outside where I was 3 feet from the drive up and said it was found under a box. 3 people witnessed this then another assistant manger comes out a few seconds later and told me that I had dropped it out the car window and it was found in the drive up, Funny because I was standing in the drive up with other people and no one saw anyone under the cars or were they outside for that matter looking for my card. It is hard to call someone a thief so I wont but poor management lead to a 45 min ordeal and it had to take police action for them to even look for the missing card. Horrible management for the Wichita Kansas Maple and 135th Sonic drive in. Whatever happened to the customer is always right and instead I received that I was the lunatic and it was all my fault. I will also mention that the girl that was holding the management position seemed immature and unable to deal with people in a crisis so she chose to expect me to just leave as if I shouldn't care that my check card dissappeared.

Andrew,
I am doing a project for school and I am having trouble loacting the vision and/or mission statement for Sonic. Can you help me out and tell me where I can find this information. If any one else knows I love your info as well. Thanks

Last summer we stopped at a Sonic in eastern Ohio where the employees all wore tie-dye Sonic tee shirts. My daughter admired them and asked for one for Christmas.
Does anyone know where I can by one of these? Pls e-mail me. Thanks

Sonic is the best place! I remember in the 70-80's it used to be the place to hang out at. They'd give us the little plastic animals for our collection and adornment. What happened to those? guess too many people said they were dangerous as we use to hear from our parents "they will fall off the visor and into your eye" LOL Wish you'd bring 'em back. And we love the Sonic ice you know you can buy it in a bag from them on a hot summer day its fantastic!! I love the Sonic! Best one is the one in Lindale Texas!!! Happy New Year!!

Hey I see a lot of assistant managers and such on here too so I'll ask you this question. Anyone elses comments is welcome as well. I have been working for sonic for two and a half years now and I would really LOVE to carhop, but my GM doesn't think I'm capable. *I'm fat* She even did this whole try-out like session where all the fountains that wanted to carhop had a chance to, and only a few got to carhop. There where three that got to carhop me being the only one that wasn't able to carhop even though two others had quit.
At first I was like fine maybe they were quicker than me and that's all she needed but then she hired two more off the street. One was o.k., but the other that still works there is SLOW the only thing she has going for her is her looks. Like Friday night she worked from 5-9 pm before asking to leave and only took out 44 orders the others had twice as much. I KNOW I am more capable than her! When I was carhopping I took out more orders and I actually did some stocking and cleaning that the carhops are supposed to do! Is there even anything I can do or do I just suck it up and keep on with my 5.75 and hour?
P.S. we don't even use skates here!
