Last Monday we were driving home from a weekend in the mountains when we chanced upon a Sonic Drive-In in Ripon, California (near Modesto). Sonic is a chain with locations in most states, especially in Texas and Oklahoma. Their specialties are hot dogs, tater tots, and fruity drinks like limeade and a bunch of add-ins like cherry, grape, blue coconut, and watermelon. But the real fun is the carhop service, often provided on roller skates. I'm a sucker for a semi-cultish experience, and since there are no Sonics within an hour of where I live, this qualified. The hot dog I had was disappointing, but the tater tots were reasonable, and the limeade was great.
Well that was alot of reading to get to the most current. I saw a few comments about Sonics coming to San Diego and recently a friend and I were driving out in Santee and saw a sign stating that they were currently building a Sonic. My friend was excited, but for myself I have never been. However I am looking forward to trying it out. All the commercials all look so good. Finally no driving hours, just a mere 20 minutes. However I was trying to find where it would be listed as to when it will be opening. I've had no such luck. Does anyone know where I could find that out? I've tried the locator on the website.

We have a sonic in Anna Il. This was a real respective place to work. My wife still does. The G.M. there is the problem there. She hate's certain worker's who has been at this store for a long time. Her step dad who is a good supervisor and is very kind let's her get away with to much. She is suppose to work so many hour's, but she has other's manager's to this for her while she put's about 4-5 hr.s for 5-6 day's a week and gets her bonus's and her full salary. She keeps asking certain worker's to quit. These are hard working people who live here and have kids. some have two job's and help both fr several years and are the best in there. How do you make a complaint passed her dad cause he has already made the statement that noone goes over him. sounds like a threat. Does anyone know how to get around him. Thanks!

Ok this comment is for Tabitha. The Sonics in Santee is on the corner of Magnolia and Mission Gorge. Right next to the Chevron near the 67. It should be open in just a few days. I can't wait. I'm such a sucker for their food!

the lines in Santee are still about 60-90 minutes till you can place an order.. Just can justify that for "fast" food. I'll probably wait a month or so before venturing into the
parking lot till the crowds die down.

Got into Sonic Santee twice! They need to fill up all the stalls instead of making people wait in a 50 min line on the street! I'll be waiting to visit again too!

If you don't want to wait in line (like me) just go in the morning....that's what we did on a Saturday around 7am and we got right in!!!....

I just returned from a 20 minute wait to be acknowledged @ new Sonic in Heartland Crossing IN... never was I acknowleded by staff - and there was plenty of staff. NO customer service. Watched one staff "bag up trash" - apparently whatever falls out of the bag belongs to the enviornment -- How clean is the kitchen - filthy uniforms, trashing the neighgorhood and no service. We went elsewhere.

I work at a sonic. I've been a carhop for about a year now. this is my last week.. :'(. the comments are mixed. but i can tell you service really depends on the time of day and the location sometimes. my sonic is really strict, but at night they turn bad.. (diff. managers) and about 25 minutes away the sonic is TERRIBLE. disgusting restaurant with trash everywhere. bad service that takes about 10 minutes to get a drink!:o our sonic is in the semi-finals (for like the 6th year in a row) :D the chicken strip sandwich is AWESOME! and a steal. 2-3 chicken strips on a sandwich and 2 strips costs MORE than a dollar for sonic!

Grew up with Sonic Drive In's.In Oklahoma. Was my favorite until I came close to dying from eating one of their menu items. Was in hospital almost a week. I still suffer the efects of Salmenelia. Intestinal,Kidney, and Joint problems,I guess I'll always have.
That was a few years ago. The Company has refused to do anything. This Sonic unit failed numerous health inspections. They hire professionals to keep this out of litagation. But,I will have my day in Court. Anybody else been through this Hell?

I treated someone to lunch at the Sonic located at 1500 Getwell Rd. in Memphis ,Tn. I ordered a 2 Sonic burgers with cheese. Instead I got two cold hamburger with no cheese. When I buzzed in to let them know about it, they said they would bring my cheese out to me. Well guess what, it was two hard cold slices of cheese to put on my cold hamburgers. I was so angry that all I could do was drive off. I know that Sonic is fast food but COME ON! Very unsatified REGULAR customer.

Hey guys my sister is in a wheel chair from a storke she is 48. She goes to sonic in wichita ks. There drive-way is all ripped up anyway she hits one of their holes gets thrown out of her wheel chair and almost gets run over. She cant walk or use her right side and now they have broken her shoulder. I called the CEO's oiffice for Sonic and they will do nothing.
I even sent them pics of their ripped up drive way and they say its fine.

Hi,
Just want to say that I love the strawberry limeades. Unfortunately there are no Sonics in Australia, so I have to wait every 2 - 3 years before we go back to Texas to see family to enjoy those Route 44s. When we were in San Antonio in 2009, our 3 year old tried the strawberry limeades for the first time, and found them delicious as well. We have always had positive experiences when we have gone to Sonic, and can't wait for those strawberry limeades again in 2012 :)

I bought my 3 year old daughter a kids meal from sonic on February 19, 2011. The fries fell in her lap while she was sitting in her carseat. They caused 2nd degree burns on her left thigh. (She was wearing a dress). I called the corporate office to let them know that was rediculous to put that hot of fries in a child's meal. I have called them back every day and have yet to receive a call back from them. This upsets me so bad. I don't want any money, all I want is acknowledgment!

What the fuck is wrong with their website?
POS refuses to lead what-so-ever. For a company the size of Sonic, one would think they could build a website that actually loads.
Wow. Horrific.

To the person who's child was burned. Do you have common sense? You do know that fries are cooked in 350 degree grease right? A responsible parent would make sure their childs food wasn't to hot before giving it to them.
