Dang! I always thought that modern baseball started in Hoboken, NJ.

I think where it really started is a story that's still unfolding. But a lot of other people thought Hoboken, too. I don't think the Pittsfield thing is the end of it, because by then, baseball was clearly very popular, so it must have started some time earlier.
