Ever since my son Jess started college a couple of years ago, I've been bugging him to undertake some travel or life adventure that he won't be able to do once he's a little older and takes on more of life's responsibilities -- you know, something like spending a summer riding trains around Europe.
Well, he came up with his own idea -- not exactly what I had in mind, but very adventurous: he's going to take a year off school and follow the San Jose Sharks hockey team around for an entire season of 82 games over six months. He's a journalism student, with dreams of becoming a sports journalist, and he loves the Sharks, so he came up with the idea for what he calls a hockey odyssey. He (and the season) started last week with the first home games and the first road trip, which included Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. He's blogging the whole adventure here: Sharks Hockey Odyssey. Please drop by, check it out, and leave a comment for Jess if you're so inclined.
Go Sharks -- and go Jess!
P.S. Tomorrow (Wed.) is Jess's birthday. He's turning 21. This is especially poignant for those of you out there who remember when he was born. ;-)
