
Once upon a time, people watched the Super Bowl because it was a big football game. Then came Apple's ad in 1984. The genius of this commercial was that not only was it an incredibly great commercial, but it invented the notion that the Super Bowl was a venue for ads.
The Super Bowl commercials have gotten far less entertaining in the past few years. It's like they're trying too hard or something.
As a general rule, I hate advertising.
Super Bowl ads are at least as inane as normal ones, if not worse--and at a much higher cost, too.
Last year was especially bad, though... I can't recall there being any "good" ones at all.
Here's to another orgy of marketing wastefulness!
