The beta version of Google Video Search is now live. This cool service searches closed caption transcripts of recent TV shows, then shows you still images along with any matches it finds. Lots of reviewers are underwhelmed, but in comparing Google Video Search with its competitors, I think they're missing the trademark Google simplicity and ease-of-use. It's true that Google really needs to add live video to the search results, but it's already very useful.
Google's Video search is a little too simple, if you ask me. Yes, it is easy-to-use, but there is not much of a product. There's no actual video. Have you checked out other products on the market? My favorite is BlinkxTV. It, too, is easy to use. However, you can actually SEE video clips.

i agree with you..blinkxtv is really the best tv search out there. they have video clips you can watch (which is like watching tv). google has yet to release a version that is even comprable to the blinkx version. I dont know why they are calling it google video when its more google pictures!

Blinkxtv doesn't work right for me. For example, when I search for the names of characters in prime time TV shows (e.g. The West Wing), I get few or no results. What's wrong?

There are comments like this (Blinkx rocks, Google sucks) all over the web. Every single comment I've seen comes from a Hotmail or Yahoo -- that is, free and easily obtained -- e-mail address. I suspect an Astroturf (fake grassroots) campaign. I'm sure lots of companies do this, but this one is a little over the top.
