Baseball fans remember the incredible incident last fall when Chicago Cubs fan Steve Bartman interfered with a ball in play and helped cause the Cubs to miss what would have been their first World Series in 58 years. Now a Chicago restaurant is going to destroy the ball tonight on live television: MSNBC at 8:00 PM EST on Keith Olbermann's show. According to the story, a Hollywood special effects guy is devising an undisclosed "'evil' method" to destroy the ball. If you and your TiVo miss it, it's being repeated at midnight EST.
Here's what the manager of the restaurant that's killing the ball says:
"It’s like the ring from ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and we’re kind of like Frodo, trying to get it over with."
I know! Pete Rose will try to steal the ball, and Bud Selig will bite it out of his hand and fall into the Chicago River.
Steve Bartman lives in Northbrook. Which as you know is where I used to live. He had to have security at his house after his "stunt." Just thought you would like to know that little bit of trivia.

Poor guy. He really screwed up, but c'mon. Baseball is Life, but let's not take is so seriously.
